Mott MacDonald provide consultancy services built on technical expertise and, in the UK, the Railways Division have some 230 railway specialist engineers covering a wide variety of technical railway engineering system disciplines covering all aspects of railway operations.

Customer focus is essential to the success – indeed the survival – of their business. Directors embody customer focus and lead by example, and the induction process encourages customer focus from a graduate’s first day with the company. The success of this customer focused culture is testified through their commercial success and the many plaudits that they have received from their customers.

This award entry was used as a powerful training exercise in the Railways Division. Young professionals interviewed senior directors to explore the answers to the questions in the proforma and also compiled and created the associated video. All have benefited enormously from the experience and have gained a great insight into the way the work they do, and the ethos they absorb, drives business success.
