Cleaning and Greening London
Help make London a cleaner, greener city
One of Team London’s objectives is to improve quality of life in London through volunteering programmes that make London a cleaner and greener city.
Team London believes that communities that are free of rubbish and graffiti; more tree-lined streets and parks; growing our own food or food for our neighbours; are all things that make us happier and healthier as individuals and stronger as communities.
Team London have set up three projects you can get involved with to make London a cleaner, greener city:
- Capital Clean-up - Through Capital Clean-up, people across London are working together to make the public spaces in their communities cleaner, safer and greener for the 2012 Games and beyond. You can pick from hundreds of events including Thames riverbank and canal clean-ups, litter picks, habitat restoration and graffiti removal.
- Capital Growth - Capital Growth will see at least 2,012 new community food growing spaces by the end of 2012. The programme offers grants, practical help, training and advice so you can grow your own food while regenerating neglected corners of the city.
- Londoners Love Trees - Londoners Love Trees is looking for more than 4,000 volunteers to plant 9,000 new trees, maintain existing trees, and help set up new tree warden groups and tree nurseries.
