What is Heart of the City?
Heart of the City is a registered charity launched in September 2000 by its joint presidents Lord George and The Lord Mayor of the City of London.
Heart of the City is actively supported in the delivery of its free programme by 70 leading Corporate Partners who are highly experienced in the development of CSR programmes in their own businesses.
Heart of the City’s strategic direction and Governance is determined by its Board of Trustees chaired by Gerry Acher. Heart of the City has been housed and funded by the City of London Corporation since its inception. In 2007, Heart of the City received funding by the London Development Agency to roll out its successful City programme to the City fringes. In addition to supporting City businesses, Heart of the City can now support businesses in Southwark, Lambeth, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Islington Camden and Westminster.
Heart of the City is not a broker. However, after discussing which areas of CSR you are interested in, Heart of the City can put you in touch with a relevant brokering organisation who can give information, guidance and a helping hand to get started.
HotC does not raise funds for or make individual approaches to companies on behalf of charities. It does however use examples of companies working in partnership with charities to highlight mutual benefits and encourage good practice.
